nType 1
The hair has little to no curl or wave pattern.
n It lays close to the head & won't bounce up, even when layered
nTips
n Use lighter products such as mousses or gels that enhance curls, but don't weigh them down
n Let hair air dry or use a diffuser for more volume & curl
nRub a little pomade into the palm of your hands & apply to dry the hair. Eliminate dry ends by sleeping on a satin pillowcase or scarf. 




Type 2-wavy

n This a definite wave or loose “s” pattern & hair has a lot of body.
n It is easily styled in its natural state or straightened with a blow-dryer
n It tends to feel soft and very fine; Do not use a brush or comb on your dry curls

nStyling Tips
n 2's: Use gels and creams that offer light moisture and curl definition
n 2's & 3's Use gels and styling creams with extra moisture and serious frizz control
n Let hair air dry or use a diffuser
n Once your curls are dry, rub a light oil into the palm of your hands and smooth over your hair gently
n Reduce tangles & dryness by sleeping on a satin pillowcase
 Combinations of Type 1 and 2  curls are common
 


Type 3- curly

n


Type 3 hair has tight curls in corkscrews with the circumference of a  Pencil or straw

n The curls can be either kinky, or very tightly curled, with lots and lots of strands densely packed together
n Getting this type of hair to blow dry straight is more challenging than for 3a or 3b, but it usually can be done
n The very tight curls are usually fine in texture

n Type 4 is kinky, or very tightly curled, with a clearly visible curl pattern &  the circumference of a thin Crochet needle or even smallern The hair is very wiry, very tightly coiled and very, very fragile
n Type 4 hair can range from fine/thin to wiry/coarse with lots and lots of strands densely packed together. It has less cuticle layers than any other hair type, which means that it has less natural protection from the damage you inflict by combing, brushing, curling, blow-drying and straightening it.n It is known to shrink up to 75% of the actual hair length
n There are two Type 4 subtypes:
n4a: is tightly coiled hair which when stretched, has an "S" pattern, much like curly hair. It tends to have more moisture & has a definite curl pattern
4b:
has a "Z" pattern with a  less defined curl pattern. Instead of curling or coiling, the hair bends in sharp angles like the letter "Z"; has a cotton-like feelj

Styling Tips
n Use light gels, styling creams, butters and oils for this type hair .n This hair type needs extra moisture and tender-loving care because it can be very fragile.n Detangle hair while wet with a lot of conditioner  and use a large tooth comb.
n Do not comb when it’s dry. nPut it in large twists or braids & wrap hair in a satin scarf or cap.
